:Artist Statement:

It is known that the traditional custodians of Gadubanud lands, Gadubanud people (to whom Lorne, Victoria belongs to) traded spear wood for green stone mined by the Wurundjeri when tribes met at traditional ceremonies around the Gariwerd district. Later on, the area became a source of timber for European settlements. Through LORNE LAKUD (LAKUD means 'wood' in my mother tongue), I want you to notice the unique and dynamic form of the wood these trees at the Erskine River mouth have. These trees welcome the River when it meets the Ocean. It is welcoming to every visitor to the Land. I also want to acknowledge the fact that some of this wood was a bone structure of my first Sculpture 'Free Falling' at the Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2022. This sunprint was created during the making process of the sculpture.
